HEALTH AND ENVIRONMENT

The President of the General Assembly, Csaba Kőrösi is in Budapest, Hungary, today…

Where this morning our time, he addressed the 7th Ministerial Conference on Environment and Health, co-hosted by the Government of Hungary and the World Health Organization.

President Kőrösi warned that the world is at an inflection point, in an era of cascading crisis placing our health, economies, societies and the strained multilateral system, under relentless pressure.

Some of these crises are happening because of our non0sustainable way of live.

We are in a race against time, the President said. The good news is that we are still in the race, and there is still time.

But we have to radically transform the way we think and act: how we produce, use, and preserve.

The SDG Summit will be a pivotal moment, he said, to locate the gaps and drive a quantum leap to fulfill the 2030 Agenda.

The President said the SDG Summit has to be non-conventional.

It must prove that the second-half of the time allotted for the SDGs will be more transformative than the first.
