Her steadfast leadership during these turbulent times had been a source of stability and resilience for people around the world.<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>I extend my heartfelt condolences to the Royal Family, to the people of the United Kingdom of Great Britain and Northern Ireland, and of the Commonwealth.<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>Her Majesty had dedicated her life to public service and the service of the Commonwealth.<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>My own Maldives is a member of the Commonwealth, and I am grateful to Her Majesty for the support she has shown to its 56 members who have championed the cause of small islands over the years.<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>The international community has lost a great advocate for peace, sustainable development and human rights.<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>8 September 2022<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>I was deeply saddened to hear of the passing of Her Majesty Queen Elizabeth II, the Queen of the United Kingdom of Great Britain and Northern Ireland.
