The President of the 76th<\/sup>\u00a0session of the General Assembly, H.E. Mr. Abdulla Shahid, met today with the Permanent Representative of Germany, H.E. Antje Leendertse and the Permanent Representative of Sweden H.E. Anna Karin Enestr\u00f6m.<\/p>\n

President Shahid, Ambassador Leendertse and Ambassador Enestr\u00f6m discussed the preparations for the 10th<\/sup>\u00a0NPT Review Conference scheduled to be held in the UN Headquarters in New York, 4-28 January 2022.\u00a0<\/p>\n

In particular, the PRs raised the issue about the in-person participation of civil society organizations during the Review Conference.<\/p>\n

President Shahid underlined the importance of the 10th<\/sup>\u00a0NPT Review Conference as a critical momentum to make a meaningful progress in the global nuclear disarmament and non-proliferation.\u00a0<\/p>\n

The President re-assured the PRs that he is cognizant of the desire of CSOs to participate in the upcoming RevCon. He also briefed the PRs on his upcoming Townhall meeting with CSOs on 17th November.\u00a0<\/p>\n

He assured his office\u2019s full support to ensure the success of the Review Conference.<\/p>\n

The meeting took place in the President\u2019s office at United Nations Headquarters in New York.\u00a0<\/p>\n
