horizontal_offset_tablet=&#8221;0&#8243;]<\/p>\n<p>The President of the 76th Session of the United Nations General Assembly H.E. Abdulla Shahid, addressed\u00a0virtually\u00a0the High-Level Dialogue on\u00a0<span class=\"mark64j54z9fj\" data-markjs=\"true\" data-ogac=\"\" data-ogab=\"\" data-ogsc=\"\" data-ogsb=\"\">Energy<\/span>\u00a0held today<\/p>\n<p>At the meeting the President highlighted that\u00a0<span class=\"mark64j54z9fj\" data-markjs=\"true\" data-ogac=\"\" data-ogab=\"\" data-ogsc=\"\" data-ogsb=\"\">energy<\/span>\u00a0is critical to both our recovery from the global pandemic and our efforts to tackle climate change. And in this context, he noted that the COVID-19 pandemic has underscored the stark divide between\u00a0<span class=\"mark64j54z9fj\" data-markjs=\"true\" data-ogac=\"\" data-ogab=\"\" data-ogsc=\"\" data-ogsb=\"\">energy<\/span>\u00a0haves and\u00a0<span class=\"mark64j54z9fj\" data-markjs=\"true\" data-ogac=\"\" data-ogab=\"\" data-ogsc=\"\" data-ogsb=\"\">energy<\/span>\u00a0have-nots. He emphasized the need to work together \u2013 Governments, the UN system and other multi-stakeholders &#8211; to take urgent action to achieve SDG7 and to ensure that no one is left behind.<\/p>\n<p>The High-Level Dialogue on\u00a0<span class=\"mark64j54z9fj\" data-markjs=\"true\" data-ogac=\"\" data-ogab=\"\" data-ogsc=\"\" data-ogsb=\"\">Energy<\/span>\u00a0focused on discussing a global roadmap with recommended actions and milestones to accelerate the implementation of SDG7 by 2030 including voluntary commitments from Member States and other stakeholders in the form of \u201c<span class=\"mark64j54z9fj\" data-markjs=\"true\" data-ogac=\"\" data-ogab=\"\" data-ogsc=\"\" data-ogsb=\"\">Energy<\/span>\u00a0Compacts\u201d to set out actions planned to advance clean, affordable\u00a0<span class=\"mark64j54z9fj\" data-markjs=\"true\" data-ogac=\"\" data-ogab=\"\" data-ogsc=\"\" data-ogsb=\"\">energy<\/span>\u00a0for all by 2030 and net zero emissions by 2050. There are currently over 130\u00a0<span class=\"mark64j54z9fj\" data-markjs=\"true\" data-ogac=\"\" data-ogab=\"\" data-ogsc=\"\" data-ogsb=\"\">Energy<\/span>\u00a0Compacts that have been
