The President of the General Assembly delivered remarks at the high level event \u2018Transformative Action for Nature and People\u2019.\u00a0<\/span><\/b>In his message, the PGA stressed the importance of following up commitments made during the first \u2018Action for Nature\u2019 event and the Leaders\u2019 Pledge for Nature, adopted by 88 Heads of State and government and the EU. The PGA also informed that he intended to convene a high-level General Assembly event on Climate Change next month to raise political commitment to the 1.5 degree target, climate action address capacity and funding gaps, and raise ambition and momentum ahead of COP26. He also informed about his intention to convene a \u2018moment for nature\u2019 event, next year, addressing the interconnected issues around the environment. This includes the ocean, climate, biodiversity loss, and desertification, amongst others.<\/p>\n

The side event was organised to showcase action to protect, conserve, sustainably use and restore nature and close the finance gap. The event was organized by Costa Rica,\u00a0<\/b>Antigua & Barbuda, AOSIS, Belgium, Bhutan, Colombia, EU, France, Gabon, UK, Vietnam; Campaign for Nature & National Geographic, Convention on Biological Diversity (CBD), Nature 4 Life Hub, UNEP, UNDP, World Wide Fund for Nature (WWF)<\/p>\n
