Janil Greenaway is a skilled diplomat with more than 17 years of experience in International Affairs. She currently serves as Senior Advisor on macroeconomic and financing for sustainable development issues in the Office of the President of the seventy-sixth session of the UN General Assembly. She is also the focal point for the President’s interactions with the Economic and Social Council.

Janil is seconded to the President’s team from the United Nations Development Programme (UNDP), where she spent eight and a half years in multiple team leader roles, leading the Partner Portfolio Management Team (2016-2020) and before that the UN System Affairs Team (2013-2016) in UNDP’s Bureau of External Relations and Advocacy. Most recently, she served as acting Director of the bureau’s Public Partnerships Group (2020-2021), managing multiple teams during a major bureau-wide change process.

Her first experience with the UN was as a UN Fulbright Fellow in the Department of Economic and Social Affairs in 2004 – one of ten Fulbright Fellows within the global UN System that year.

Before joining the UN system, she spent eight years in the diplomatic service of Antigua and Barbuda, with progressively responsible positions. From 2010-2013 she served as Antigua & Barbuda’s Consul General in Toronto, Canada. From 2008-2010 she was Minister Counsellor for Economic and Social Affairs at the Permanent Mission of Antigua and Barbuda to the United Nations in New York. Before becoming Minister Counsellor, she served as Counsellor on Economic and Political Affairs from 2005-2007.

She began her professional career in print media in Antigua with Sun Printing and Publishing Ltd., rising through the ranks quickly to become Associate Editor of the Antigua Sun Newspaper before leaving to pursue graduate studies in 2002. She has a Masters in Public and International Affairs from the University of Pittsburgh, specializing in Global Political Economy, and a Bachelors in Political Science and Public Sector Management from the University of the West Indies.

She enjoys hiking, snorkeling and scuba diving. She is married to Oliver Jancevski and has a 7-year old son.
