Readout of the Meeting between the President of the General Assembly and the President of Kenya

The President of the 76^th Session of the General Assembly His Excellency Abdulla Shahid met today with the President of the Republic of Kenya, His Excellency Uhuru Kenyatta, on the sidelines of the Stockholm+50 International Meeting.

President Kenyatta and President Shahid discussed a range of global issues. They noted that not resolving the climate crisis will only exacerbate our difficulties in addressing all other global challenges. They spoke on the urgency of ensuring that climate concerns are continued to be prioritized going forward.

President Shahid commended the Government of Kenya for their role in jointly hosting the conference with Sweden, and also on the scale of Kenya’s conservation efforts and as the host-country for the UN Environmental Programme, one of the chief legacies of the inaugural Stockholm Conference.

The meeting occurred at Stockholm, Sweden.
