The President of the 76th session of the General Assembly, H.E. Mr. Abdulla Shahid, met today, H.E Mr. Mevlüt Çavuşoğlu, the Minister of Foreign Affairs of Turkey.
The Minister commended the President’s leadership and initiatives taken during his Presidency of Hope, including holding the first International Migration Review Forum (IMRF). He highlighted that international cooperation is essential when tackling the issue of migration. He also gave the context of Turkey, which hosts the world’s largest number of refugees.
The President thanked the Minister for his participation at the IMRF, and for the support extended by the Government of Turkey to his Presidency.
The meeting took place in the office of the President of General Assembly, at the United Nations Headquarters.
