The President of the 76th session of the General Assembly, H.E. Mr. Abdulla Shahid, met today with H.E. Mr. Pham Minh Chinh, Prime Minister of the Socialist Republic of Viet Nam.
Prime Minister Pham reaffirmed Viet Nam’s commitment to multilateralism and the work of the United Nations in its three pillars, namely peace and security, sustainable development and human rights. Prime Minister Pham also congratulated the President on his achievements so far, and expressed his country’s continued support to the Presidency of Hope.
President Shahid commended Viet Nam’s strong commitment to multilateralism and its active contribution to advancing the global agenda. President Shahid informed Prime Minister Pham about his intention to convene a High-Level Thematic Debate entitled “Moment for Nature” on 19 July 2022 and invited Viet Nam to participate at the highest level.
They also discussed the impacts of war in Ukraine, recovery from COVID-19 pandemic, climate change, UNCLOS, peacekeeping operations and ASEAN-UN cooperation
The meeting took place in the President’s office at United Nations Headquarters in New York.
