Readout of meeting between President of General Assembly and Assistant Secretary General, Executive Director of the United Nations Institute for Training and Research (UNITAR) 

The President of the 76^th Session of the General Assembly H.E. Abdulla Shahid met today with Assistant Secretary General and Executive Director of the United Nations Institute for Training and Research, Mr. Nikhil Seth.

President Shahid thanked Mr. Seth and his Team for the excellent cooperation between OPGA and UNITAR in launching the Fellowship for Hope program and stressed the need for the institutionalization of this initiative to enable young diplomats from underrepresented countries to continue to benefit from the Fellowship.

Both sides also exchanged views on equipping young diplomats with the relevant tools to help them handle futuristic issues. In this context, Executive Director, UNITAR mentioned their increased focus on training capsules on science and technology.

The meeting took place in the President’s office at the United Nations Headquarters in New York.
