Meeting between the President of the General Assembly and the Permanent Representative of Sweden and the Deputy Permanent Representative of Kenya

The President of the 76^th session of the General Assembly, H.E. Mr. Abdulla Shahid, met today with the Permanent Representative of Sweden H.E. Anna Karin Eneström and the Deputy Permanent Representative of Kenya H.E. Njambi Kinyungu.

The meeting was held to discuss the preparations for the upcoming preparatory meeting for the International Meeting entitled “Stockholm+50: a healthy planet for the prosperity of all – our responsibility, our opportunity”, to be convened by the President on 28 March 2022 in New York.

The President was also briefed on the preparations being undertaken by the Governments of Sweden and Kenya as co-hosts of the International Meeting, which will take place in Stockholm from 2-3 June 2022.

The President thanked both Missions for the support received for the preparatory meeting.

The President also used the opportunity to congratulate the Government of Kenya on the successful UNEA5.2 and UNEP@50 commemoration.

The meeting took place in the President’s office at United Nations Headquarters in New York.
