The President of the 76th session of the General Assembly, H.E. Mr. Abdulla Shahid, met today with H.E. Dr. Shakhwan Ahmed, Deputy Speaker of the Iraqi Council of Representatives.
H.E. Dr. Ahmed briefed the President on the situation in Iraq and the work ahead for forming a government that would meet the hope and aspirations of the Iraqi people.
The President and the Deputy Speaker exchanged views on the ongoing 2022 Annual Hearing of the Inter-Parliamentary Union at the United Nations, as well as the importance of continuing to fight the effects of the Covid-19 pandemic, gender and climate change.
