The President of the 76th session of the General Assembly, H.E. Mr. Abdulla Shahid, met today with H.E. Mr. Sergiy Kyslytsya, Permanent Representative of Ukraine.
Permanent Representative expressed Ukraine’s support for priorities of President Shahid for the resumed part of the 76th session, in particular on peace and security, climate, COVID19 vaccination and gender equality. He briefed on the situation in Ukraine ahead of upcoming debate of the General Assembly on 23 February.
The President Shahid thanked Ukraine for an active engagement in the work of the General Assembly. He shared his priorities and provided details of scheduled high-level meetings, especially the High-level thematic debate “Galvanising Momentum for Universal Vaccination”.
Both sides also discussed the youth participation in the United Nations activities and their role in the future of multilateralism, peaceful settlements of disputes and prevention of armed conflicts, including the PGA Youth Fellowship Programme for HOPE.
The meeting took place in the President’s office at United Nations Headquarters in New York.
