The President of the 76th Session of the General Assembly, H.E. Mr. Abdulla Shahid, met today with the Permanent Representative of the Dominican Republic, H.E. Mr. Jose Blanco.
Ambassador Blanco congratulated the President on his leadership in guiding the membership to address world’s current challenges. Mr. Blanco also shared his views and perspectives on access to vaccines, the “Our Common Agenda” report, the importance of sustainable development and recovery of tourism from the consequences of the COVID-19 pandemic and the situation in Haiti.
The President thanked the Dominican Republic for its continued support as Vice-President of the General Assembly.
Both sides also discussed other relevant topics such as gender parity, climate change and youth.
The meeting took place in the President’s office at United Nations Headquarters in New York.
