The President of the 76th session of the General Assembly, H.E. Mr. Abdulla Shahid, met with the Director General of the World Health Organization, Dr. Tedros Adhanom, today.
The President and the Director General discussed collaboration and partnership in the lead up to the High-level meeting entitled “Galvanising Momentum towards Universal Vaccination”, scheduled in January 2022.
They both highlighted that the High Level meeting will be an opportunity to renew commitment in catalyzing action towards reaching the global target of vaccinating 70% of the population of all countries by mid of 2022.
The President thanked WHO Secretariat for the support extended to the Office of the President of the General Assembly in preparing for the High-level.
The meeting took place in the President’s office at United Nations Headquarters in New York.
