The President of the 76th session of the General Assembly, H.E. Mr. Abdulla Shahid, met today with the Minister of Foreign Affairs of Chad H.E. Mr. Mahamat Zene Cherif.
Minister Cherif congratulated the President and reaffirmed Chad’s full support to the Presidency of Hope, and briefed the President on domestic issues, and discussed issues relating to climate change, gender, youth, terrorism, peace and security, and political development in the country and the Sahel region.
The President welcomed the Minister and briefed the Foreign Minister on his forthcoming high-level events on climate change and environment. Both sides also discussed other relevant topics, such as climate change impact in the Lake Chad basin, migration, gender, youth, terrorism in the Sahel region, and the upcoming election in Chad.
The meeting took place in the President’s office at United Nations Headquarters in New York.
