United Nations, New York, 8 July 2021 – The President of the 75th session of the United Nations General Assembly, H.E. Mr. Volkan Bozkır, has concluded his visit to Kyrgyzstan, which took place from 7-8 July.

The President was received in Bishkek by H.E. Mr. Sadyr Japarov, President of the Republic of Kyrgyzstan.

The President of the General Assembly congratulated Kyrgyzstan on its 30th anniversary of independence and thanked the Government for their hospitality and productive engagement.

During their discussion, the President of the General Assembly expressed appreciation to Kyrgyzstan for its important contributions to the work of the General Assembly during the 75th Session.

The President noted that Kyrgyzstan`s initiatives and active role in the UN on biodiversity and nature agendas as well as its contributions to UN peacekeeping operations are appreciated.

The President of the General Assembly assured President Japarov that the United Nations General Assembly and the UN Country Team will continue to work for the people of Kyrgyzstan.

In addition, the President met with H.E. Mr Dastan Dushekeev, the Chief of Foreign Policy Department at the Presidency Administration  and H.E. Mr. Azizbek Madmarov, the Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs of Kyrgyzstan for fruitful discussions.

While in Bishkek, the President also had a meeting with Mr Adnan Quereshi, the UN Resident Coordinator Ad Interim, where he received updates about the important work of the UN Country Team in Kyrgyzstan.
