On 21 June 2021, the President of the General Assembly, H.E. Mr. Volkan Bozkir, held an in-person coordination meeting with H.E. Mr. Nicolas de Rivière, Permanent Representative of France to the UN and the President of the Security Council for the month of July 2021. 

Ambassador de Rivière, briefed the PGA on the upcoming main activities to be undertaken during his presidency of the Council in July, focusing on France’s in-person High level briefing on Humanitarian call for action on the protection of humanitarian workers, as well as a High level briefing on Libya.

The two Presidents also discussed the Syrian humanitarian issue in light of the renewal of the cross-border mechanism, as well as the reappointment of Secretary-General for a second term. 

While thanking Ambassador de Rivière for his visit, H.E. Mr. Bozkir commended him for holding all meetings of the Security Council in-person, as well as for the rich programme of work of the Security Council for the month of July 2021. Concluding, both Presidents underscored their commitment to working together throughout the month of July 2021.
