On 3 June 2021, the President of the seventy-fifth session of the UN General Assembly, H.E. Volkan Bozkir, met with H.E. Mr. Sven Jürgenson, Permanent Representative of Estonia to the UN and the President of the Security Council for the month of June 2021. 

Ambassador Jürgenson briefed the PGA on the main activities to be undertaken during his presidency of the Council, focusing on Estonia’s Open debate on Cyber security as well as the open debate on the Working methods of the Council. The two Presidents also exchanged views on the situation in Myanmar and Syria. Finally, the two Presidents discussed the consideration of the Annual Report of the Security Council to the General Assembly adopted under China’s presidency in May, and the selection and appointment process for the UN Secretary-General.

While thanking Ambassador Jürgenson for his visit, H.E. Volkan Bozkir commended Estonia for the rich programme of work of the Security Council for the month of June 2021 and looked forward to working constructively with him throughout his presidency.
