The President of the 75th session of the General Assembly, H.E. Mr. Volkan Bozkir, met today with H.E. Mr. Mevlüt Çavuşoğlu, Minister for Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Turkey.

They discussed the current situation in the occupied Palestinian territory, including Gaza and East Jerusalem, as well as today’s General Assembly debate, which was being held under the agenda items on “The situation in the Middle East” and “Question of Palestine”.

Other topics of discussion included the work of the General Assembly during its 75th session and the important role that the Assembly could play with respect to the issues that mattered most to the peoples of the world. Regarding such issues, today’s plenary meeting on Palestine served as a clear example of the Assembly’s value.

The President also said he was pleased to see Ministers back at United Nations Headquarters after many months, which was an important step towards the United Nations’ return to normalcy in a safe manner.

The meeting took place in the President’s office at United Nations Headquarters in New York.
