The President of the 75th session of the General Assembly, H.E. Mr. Volkan Bozkir, met today with H.E. Mr. Makhdoom Shah Mahmood Hussain Qureshi, Minister for Foreign Affairs of the Islamic Republic of Pakistan.
They discussed the situation in Palestine, including the need for United Nations engagement and international reactions to recent developments on the ground.

The President stressed that today’s General Assembly debate, which was being held under the agenda items on “The situation in the Middle East” and “Question of Palestine,” sent a clear political signal that the international community was resolved to work together towards achieving a ceasefire.

Other topics of discussion included arrangements for the General Assembly’s high-level period in September; the President’s upcoming trip to Pakistan; and regional issues, including Kashmir.

The meeting took place in the President’s office at United Nations Headquarters in New York.
