The President of the 75th session of the General Assembly, H.E. Mr. Volkan Bozkir, met virtually today with the President of the Council of Ministers (Prime Minister) of Italy, H.E. Mr. Giuseppe Conte.
They discussed the need for a coordinated multilateral response to the global pandemic, with a focus on the most vulnerable, and emphasized the centrality of the 2030 Agenda on Sustainable Development.
The President noted that the forthcoming General Assembly special session on COVID-19 was an opportunity to consider needs and responses and stressed that the reactivation of economies and the creation of employment opportunities were essential. They also discussed the Security Council reform process and the need to enhance the General Assembly’s working methods to address global challenges, including COVID-19.
