The President of the 74th session of the General Assembly, H.E. Tijjani Muhammad-Bande, will travel to the United Arab Emirates on 7 January 2020 to participate in the 10th session of the Assembly of the International Renewable Energy Organization (IRENA).

The President will deliver remarks during the opening of the assembly, the High-Level meeting on Small Island Developing States and Partners and the first IRENA Youth Assembly.

The President of the General Assembly will meet with senior government officials to discuss various issues, including the Sustainable Development Goals and the need to accelerate efforts to implement the goals during the Decade of Action and Delivery.

While in Dubai, the President is expected to visit the site of EXPO 2020, including the United Nations pavilion, which displays how different parts of the organization are working together to serve the people of the world.

In Abu Dhabi the President of the General Assembly will visit Khawla bint Al Azwar Military School which partnered with UN Women to provide training to more than 100 female peacekeepers.

The President will also deliver a lecture to junior diplomats in Emirates Diplomatic Academy (EDA) focusing on multilateralism and the 75th anniversary of the United Nations.

The President of the General Assembly will be accompanied by the Deputy Chef de Cabinet H.E. Jerobeam Shaanika, his Special Assistant Mr. Muyiwa Waheed Onifade, Advisers Ms. Hessa Alateibi and Mr. Mohammed Shaker, and his Spokesperson Ms. Reem Abaza.

Travel costs will be covered by the Government of the United Arab Emirates.

The President of the General Assembly will be back in New York on Sunday January 12.
