Xiaomei LI is the Senior Legal Advisor of the President of the 74th Session of the General Assembly and Deputy Team Leader of the United Nations Reform, Revitalization, Financial and Legal Affairs Team of the Office. She specializes in the Sixth Committee of the General Assembly and disability affairs.

Ms. Li is a senior diplomat seconded by the People’s Republic of China. She has rich experiences in multilateral affairs. She served in the Chinese Mission to the United Nations for two terms respectively between 2004 and 2014.

During her service in the Chinese Foreign Ministry, she was the Acting Director of the Department of External Security, and the Director of the Department of International Organizations and Conferences. Her portfolio covered a wide range of issues, including political affairs, anti-terrorism, human rights, SDGs, women, youth, social, disability and NGOs.

Before she joined the Office of the President of the General Assembly of the 73rd Session as the Senior Adviser and Team Leader for Social Affairs in 2018, she was the Deputy Director-General of the International Department of China Disabled Persons’ Federation (CDPF), and Senior Foreign Affairs Adviser of the Chairperson of CDPF who also sits as the President of Rehabilitation International (RI).

Ms. Li got her Bachelor’s degree on International Relations at China Foreign Affairs College, and Master of Jurisprudence in the Law School of Sydney University, Australia. She acquired the Certificate on Diplomacy and the Certificate on Constitutional Law at the New York University. She is now the PhD candidate on Human Rights Law with China University of Law and Politics. She is married with one son.
