READOUT: meeting with the Deputy Prime Minister/Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Socialist Republic of Vietnam

H.E. Mr. Tijjani Muhammad Bande, President of the 74^th Session of the United Nations General Assembly met with H.E. Mr. Pham Binh Minh, Deputy Prime Minister/Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Socialist Republic of Vietnam.

The Deputy Prime Minister expressed Vietnam’s commitment to support achieving the President’s priorities for the 74^th Session of the General Assembly.

The President also discussed regional developments in Southeast Asia and the cooperation between the UN and regional organizations such as the African Union, European Union, and ASEAN. They highlighted the necessity to maintain peace and stability in South China Sea. The President also was briefed about Vietnam’s priorities as upcoming non-permanent member of the UN Security Council 2020-2021.
