PGA HIGHLIGHTS ROLE OF YOUTH IN THE AGENDA 2030
This morning, the President of the General Assembly has spoken at the opening of the ECOSOC Youth Forum on the role of youth in shaping the implementation of the Agenda 2030 for Sustainable Development.
Under the theme; “Youth: Empowered, Included and Equal”, Ms. María Fernanda Espinosa said that the world needs inclusive inter-generational cooperation, and that the contribution of 1.8 billion young people in the world is crucial for the success of this Agenda.
The PGA stressed that this is the largest, most educated and most globally-minded youth generation in history, and that there is no limit to what young people can deliver today.
She spoke about the challenges of having 64 million young people unemployed and the situation of youth in conflict-affected states, which are home for a third of all young people.
Ms. Espinosa invited all to take part in the interactive dialogue on Youth, Peace and Security at the Trusteeship Council from 11.30 a.m. to 1pm. EST.
As you know, Youth, Peace and Security is one of the seven priorities of the PGA’s agenda.
