UN GENERAL ASSEMBLY WILL LAUNCH A GLOBAL CAMPAIGN AGAINST PLASTIC POLLUTION
MEDIA STAKE-OUT
LAUNCH OF GLOBAL CAMPAIGN AGAINST PLASTIC POLLUTION
UNITED NATIONS, New York, 3 December 2018 — The President of the United Nations General Assembly, Ms. María Fernanda Espinosa, will hold a Media Stake-Out on 4 December 2018, and will be joined by the Prime Minister of Antigua and Barbuda, Mr. Gaston Browne, as well as by the Deputy Permanent Representative of Norway, Mari Skare, where they will launch a new global campaign aimed at turning the tide on plastic pollution.
The Campaign Against Plastic Pollution is a collaboration with the Group of Friends led by Antigua and Barbuda, Norway and other member States as well as UN Environment and other relevant actors. The goal is to raise awareness of the impact of plastic pollution on human and environmental health, while also calling for urgent and tangible action at all levels.
