The expected topic of discussion is the work of the Arab League, including with respect to the Middle East.<\/li>\n<li>Also in relation to the Middle East, the <a href=\"http:\/\/www.un.org\/en\/ga\/sessions\/emergency10th.shtml\">tenth emergency special session<\/a> of the General Assembly will be resumed at 3:00 p.m. tomorrow.<\/li>\n<li>The President is <a href=\"https:\/\/www.un.org\/pga\/72\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/51\/2018\/06\/PGA-letter-10th-emergency-special-session.pdf\">convening the meeting<\/a> following a formal request from the Permanent Representatives of Algeria and Turkey, in their respective capacities as Chair of the Arab Group and Chair of the Summit of the Organization of Islamic Cooperation.<\/li>\n<li>Asked for details about tomorrow\u2019s meeting, the Spokesperson said it would start with statements from Member States and then there would be action on a draft resolution at the end of the meeting. In response to a further question, he noted that the last time the tenth emergency special session had been resumed was last December.<\/li>\n<li>Asked whether the draft resolution was similar to the one that had recently been considered by the Security Council, the Spokesperson said that, although the draft had been submitted to the Secretariat, it had not yet been issued as an official \u201cL\u201d document. As such, the Spokesperson was not in a position to elaborate on its contents.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<h3><strong>H.I.V. REMAINS A \u201cHUGE CHALLENGE\u201d<\/strong><\/h3>\n<ul>\n<li>This morning the General Assembly is holding its annual plenary debate on HIV\/AIDS.<\/li>\n<li>In his <a href=\"\/pga\/72?p=160984\">remarks<\/a>, the President said, \u201cHIV is still a\u00a0huge challenge. Yes, there have been success stories&#8230; But\u2026 we cannot afford to slow down.\u201d<\/li>\n<li>He noted, \u201cIt is not the case that everyone has the same chance of contracting HIV. It is not the case that everyone has the same chance of surviving it. And this is not the way things should be. We cannot continue to leave people behind.\u201d<\/li>\n<li>He concluded by saying, \u201cLet\u2019s keep fighting this virus \u2013 and the stigma that comes with it. Let\u2019s speak up louder \u2013 in memory of those who have died, and in support of those who are living with HIV and AIDS today.\u201d<\/li>\n<li>In response to a question, the Spokesperson later confirmed that no formal outcome was expected from today\u2019s meeting on HIV\/AIDS.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<h3><strong>PRESIDENT DISCUSSES LATEST DEVELOPMENTS ON MIGRATION PROCESS<\/strong><\/h3>\n<ul>\n<li>The President <a href=\"https:\/\/twitter.com\/UN_PGA\/status\/1006573124006088705\">just met with Louise Arbour<\/a>, the Secretary-General\u2019s Special Representative for International Migration.<\/li>\n<li>He also met yesterday with the Permanent Representatives of Mexico and Switzerland, who serve as the co-facilitators for the Global Compact for Safe, Orderly and Regular Migration.<\/li>\n<li>The aim of both meetings was to discuss the process as it moves into its final stage.<\/li>\n<li>The final round of migration negotiations is scheduled to take place during the week of 9 July. A revised draft of the Global Compact is expected to be circulated the week before that.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<h3><strong>ASSEMBLY TO CONSIDER DRAFT RESOLUTION ON G.U.A.M.
