Senior Adviser<\/span>\u00a0| Indigenous Issues, 1C and 4C<\/span><\/h3>\n

 <\/p>\n

Mateus Luemba is a Senior Adviser in the Office of the President of the 72nd Session of the UN General Assembly. He leads on issues related to the Disarmament and International Security (First Committee) and the Special Political and Decolonization Committee (Fourth Committee) as well as Indigenous Peoples.\u00a0Additionally, he serves as liaison with the African Group.<\/p>\n

Previously,\u00a0Mateus\u00a0served as Senior Adviser on\u00a0issues related to the Fourth Committee as well as Indigenous Peoples and liaison with the countries\u00a0of the G77 + China, and the African Group in the Office of the President of the 71st<\/sup>\u00a0Session of the UN General Assembly.<\/p>\n

He also served as Senior Adviser and Team Coordinator on issues relating to budget and management and was responsible for matters relating to the Fifth Committee\u00a0in the Office of the President of the 70th\u00a0<\/sup>Session of the UN General Assembly. In this role, Mateus interacted with Member States and relevant stakeholders on all matters arising from the Fifth Committee and with a special focus on the financing of peacekeeping operations and other funding arrangements to achieve and sustain peace. Mateus also supported the team\u2019s work on Peacebuilding.<\/p>\n

During the 69th<\/sup>\u00a0Session of General Assembly, he served as Adviser to the President on peacekeeping and the Fourth Committee.<\/p>\n

From 1999 to 2007, Mateus worked at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Angola, where he was part of the team in charge of the peace process in the Democratic Republic of Congo and the Great Lake Regions. He also served as an expert to the Permanent Joint Commission for Defense and Security between Angola-Zambia and between Angola-Namibia. From 2007 to 2014, he was First Secretary for Economic, Financial and Sustainable Development Affairs at the Permanent Mission of the Republic of Angola to the United Nations.<\/p>\n

Ambreen Fatima Anwar Husain is an intern with the Office of the President of the 71st Session of the United Nations General Assembly, New York, focusing on political issues. She is a graduate of Dr. RML National Law University, India, with a combined Bachelor of Arts and Bachelor of Laws (Honours). Prior to her internship with the Office of the President of the General Assembly, Ambreen worked at an Intellectual Property law firm in India, with a particular focus on trade marks. While pursuing her Bachelor\u2019s course, she interned with the Women\u2019s Rights Cell of Lawyer\u2019s Collective, where she analyzed the trends in judicial announcements relating to the law of Protection of Women from Domestic Violence. While pursuing \u00a0additional internships in areas varying from intellectual property rights and corporate law to human rights law, she developed her skills in research and writing.
