STRIVING FOR PEACE AND A DECENT LIFE FOR ALL ON A SUSTAINABLE PLANET
The high-level meeting on the fight to end tuberculosis will consist of an opening segment and a plenary segment and two consecutive multi-stakeholder panels.The opening segment, to be held from 10.30 to 11.30 a.m., will feature statements by the President of the General Assembly at its seventy-third session, the Secretary-General, the Director General of the World Health Organization, the Chair of the Stop TB Partnership and the Chair of the first World Health Organization Global Ministerial Conference on Ending Tuberculosis in the Sustainable Development Era: A Multisectoral Response, as well as an eminent high-level champion of the fight against tuberculosis and a person affected by tuberculosis.
The plenary segment, to be held from 11.30 a.m. to 1 p.m. and from 3 to 5.30 p.m., will comprise statements by Member States and observers of the General Assembly.
Two consecutive multi-stakeholder panels will be held in parallel to the plenary segment, one from 11.30 a.m. to 1 p.m. and the other from 3 to 4.30 p.m.
Member States are encouraged to participate at the highest possible level. Registration of official delegations will be carried out by the United Nations Protocol and Liaison Service.
The list of speakers of Member States and all observers of the General Assembly will be established in accordance with the rules of procedure and established practices of the Assembly.
All relevant United Nations system entities, including funds, programmes, specialized agencies, including WHO, regional commissions and relevant envoys of the Secretary-General, as well as the Stop TB Partnership, UNITAID and the Global Fund to Fight AIDS, Tuberculosis and Malaria are invited to participate in the high-level meeting.
Accreditation of non-governmental organizations, civil society organizations, academic institutions and the private sector without ECOSOC consultative status is now closed.

Registration of individual participants for the civil society hearing is now closed.
Registration for the high-level meeting will open at the beginning of July. Please note that only representatives of organizations with ECOSOC consultative status or organizations with special accreditation to attend the hearing will be able to register to attend.
As part of the preparatory process for the high-level meeting, the President of the General Assembly, with the support of the World Health Organization and the Stop TB Partnership, will organize and preside over an interactive civil society hearing with the active participation of appropriate senior-level representatives of Member States, observers of the General Assembly, parliamentarians, representatives of local government, relevant United Nations entities, non-governmental organizations in consultative status with the Economic and Social Council, invited civil society organizations, academia, medical associations and the private sector, as well as people affected by tuberculosis and broader communities.
The date of the civil society hearing is 4 June 2018.
