Today, the President of the 72nd session of the General Assembly, H.E. Mr. Miroslav Lajčák, met with H.E. Mr. Michael D. Higgins, President of Ireland. Multilateralism was at the forefront of the discussion. They talked about the growing need for the United Nations’ leadership – as well as the key role played by the United Nations General Assembly. The President of the General Assembly also outlined his core priority, which is to focus on people. Other topics included mediation and preventive diplomacy, the 2030 Agenda for Sustainable Development, climate change, and migration.
