The Week Ahead at the General Assembly of the United Nations

Monday, 26 March

The President of the General Assembly will be in Prague, Czech Republic, to address the opening of the United Nations’ Economic and Social Council ‘ECOSOC’ Preparatory Meeting entitled “Towards sustainable, resilient and inclusive societies through participation of all”.

The co-facilitators to lead the intergovernmental consultations on a draft resolution to be adopted by the General Assembly during the High-level Meeting on Peacebuilding and Sustaining Peace will hold the first informal consultations on the draft resolution, at 10:00 a.m. in the Trusteeship Council Chamber.

The General Assembly Plenary will commemorate the International Day of Remembrance of the Victims of Slavery and the Transatlantic Slave Trade, at 3:00 p.m. in General Assembly Hall.

There will be informal consultations on the draft modalities resolution in preparation for the comprehensive review of the progress achieved in the prevention and control of non-communicable diseases, at 3:00 p.m. in the Trusteeship Concil Chamber.

 

Tuesday, 27 March

The President of the General Assembly will be Brussels, Belgium, to visit European institutions.

An informal meeting (closed) of the plenary on the intergovernmental negotiations on the question of equitable representation on and increase in the membership of the Security Council and other matters related to the Council, will be held on 27-28 March, in the Trusteeship Council Chamber.
