The President of the 72nd session of the General Assembly, H.E. Mr. Miroslav Lajčák, met today with H.E. Mrs. Retno Lestari Priansari Marsudi, Minister for Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Indonesia. They discussed issues related to peace and conflict prevention, migration, United Nations reform, and the current situation in the Southeast Asian region. The President of the General Assembly invited Indonesia to provide leadership on pressing global issues during the 72nd session, including United Nations reform and the finalising of a global compact on safe, orderly, and regular migration.

Mr. Lajčák also encouraged Indonesia to stay engaged in the situation in Myanmar and thanked the Government of Indonesia for its commitment as one of the major contributors of United Nations peacekeepers.
