As part of the universal push to strengthen momentum on the implementation of the Sustainable Development Goals, the President of the 71st Session of he UN General Assembly, H.E. Mr.Peter Thomson is convening a three-day retreat, entitled “Catalysing New Partnerships to Accelerate Financing of Sustainable Infrastructure”. The event will be held from 12 – 14 June 2017 at the Pocantico Conference Center of the Rockefeller Brothers Fund , New York.
The retreat aims to support member states to gain more knowledge on how best to secure funding for dedicated projects and programmes aimed at realizing the SDGs. It will offer space where government officials engage in focused exchanges with key actors from the financial sector regarding the overall feasibility of their investment projects from a business case and bankability perspective. The retreat will bring together expert level government officials from a number of countries participating in the 2017 HLPF, together with development finance specialists, private investors, asset managers and institutional investors to identify existing opportunities and challenges for host countries and steps that each actor could take to help unlock financing solutions for specific projects in sustainable infrastructure.
