Statement on terrorist attack in Bangladesh attributable to the President of the UN General Assembly, H.E. Mogens Lykketoft

 

The President of the United Nations General Assembly, H.E. Mogens Lykketoft, wholeheartedly condemned the terrorist attack in Dhaka, Bangladesh in which around 20 hostages and two police officers were reported to have been killed on Friday and Saturday.

“We must stand together again terror,” Mr Lykketoft said on Saturday.

“This deadly and cowardly act must not go unpunished,” he said. “Our thoughts are with the loved ones, families and friends of the victims and also with those who survived with injuries.”

Mr Lykketoft said he hoped that the perpetrators of this crime would be identified and brought swiftly to justice. He said the United Nations stands firmly by the Government and People of Bangladesh at this difficult time.
