Statement on EgyptAir plane crash from the President of the UN General Assembly, H.E. Mogens Lykketoft

 

Copenhagen, 19 May 2016 – The President of the United Nations General Assembly H.E. Mogens Lykketoft expressed his sincere condolences to Egypt, France and all the other nations who lost citizens after an EgyptAir flight carrying 66 people, including three children, crashed into the Mediterranean Sea.

The President expressed sympathy for those who died and condolences to the families and friends of the victims.

According to Egypt’s civil aviation minister, there were 56 passengers, seven crew members and three security personnel on board the flight from Paris to Cairo.
The passengers comprised 30 Egyptians, 15 French, two Iraqis, one Briton, one Kuwaiti, one Saudi, one Sudanese, one Chadian, one Portuguese, one Belgian, one Algerian and one Canadian. Three of the passengers were children, two of them infants, EgyptAir said.
