Investing in women, girls key to better future

Lunch panel on “Investing in Adolescent Girls: A Pre-requisite for Achieving the 2030 Agenda for Sustainable Development,” co-organized by the Office of the President of the General Assembly and UNFPA, the United Nations Population Fund on 11 March

UNITED NATIONS, New York, 9 March 2016— Women’s empowerment and its critical role in sustainable development will be the theme of this year’s Commission on the Status of Women. During the session, UNFPA, the United Nations Population Fund, will organize several events that underscore the importance of investing in women and young people, particularly girls, to achieve a more prosperous future for all. One event focusing on ensuring universal access to sexual and reproductive health and rights and ending all forms of violence against women and girls, is organized in cooperation with the Office of the President of the United Nations General Assembly:
