The President of the UN General Assembly, Mr. Mogens Lykketoft and the President of the Human Rights Council, Mr. Joachim Rücker, discussed their commitment to human rights and Mr Lykketoft’s focus on human rights-related issues during his Presidency of the General Assembly including his plans to convene a High Level Thematic Debate on human rights in July 2016. They also discussed the importance of the Human Rights Council. Mr. Rücker conveyed an invitation to Mr. Lykketoft to attend the high level segment of the human rights council in March 2016, where issues such as human rights and the SDGs will be discussed.
