The President of the General Assembly met with Ms. Kristalina Georgieva, Vice-President of the European Commission and Co-Chair of the High Level Panel on Humanitarian Financing. The discussion was focused on the global refugee crisis. They agreed on the need to increase humanitarian financing as well as to find new ways to enhance the effective use of funds. They also discussed the participation of Ms. Georgieva in the informal Meeting of the General Assembly (on 19 November) and exchanged views on the upcoming World Humanitarian Summit in Istanbul on 23 – 24 May 2016.
