Statement attributable to the Spokesperson for the President of the General Assembly

H.E. Sam Kahamba Kutesa, President of the 69th Session of the United Nations General Assembly (PGA) would like to reiterate his gratitude to Member States and other stakeholders, including representatives of civil society organizations, the private sector and creative community who participated in the High-level Event on Climate Change and side events on 29 June 2015.

The President of the General Assembly appreciates the coverage on main stream and social media that has followed, as well as individual statements made by non-governmental organizations and activists.

From the perspective of the Office of the President of the General Assembly, statements made by or issued on behalf of the PGA are the only authoritative and official source of information regarding the High-level Event that was convened by the President.

The President of the General Assembly presided over the formal high-level proceedings at the Trusteeship Council Chamber.

It is regrettable that there are some misleading descriptions on some social media about side events organized by non-UN entities, which the PGA did not attend.
