EDDIE NPODU AT THE UN CHARTER DAY EVENT

EDDIE NPODU AT THE UN CHARTER DAY EVENT

On June 26, Eddie Npodu participated in the United Nations Charter Day and discussed his vision for the future of the United Nations and what the Nations means for him.

Eddie expressed how COVID-19, racial injustice, and deteriorating economies have underlined how inequality and social injustice are rooted in geography and demographics. Even though these are difficult obstacles to overcome, building back better from the crisis presents endless possibilities for change and reimagining structures that have been in place for a long time. We must utilize these opportunities to recover while leaving no one behind, especially those who are the most vulnerable, which can only be done by using the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) as the world's blueprint.

This year marks the 75th anniversary of the signing of the Charter of the United Nations. The Charter calls for the UN to maintain international peace and security; promote social progress and better standards of life; strengthen international law; and promote human rights and the values and goals of the Charter are just as relevant today as they were 75 years ago.
