The 2030 Agenda for Sustainable Development includes, under Sustainable Development Goal 17, a call to revitalize the global partnership for sustainable development, including through multi-stakeholder partnerships that mobilize and share knowledge, expertise, technology and financial resources toward achievement of the Goals. 

The United Nations Office for Partnerships serves as a gateway for partnership building between the private sector, foundations and other non-State actors and the United Nations system in furtherance of the Sustainable Development Goals.

In this role, the Office has four primary functions:

On 14 July, the United Nations Deputy Secretary-General Amina J. Mohammed convened the Women Rise for All live event. As part of the Decade of Action to reach the Sustainable Development Goals – the blueprint for a healthier, more equitable and more peaceful world – the interactive event supported by UNOP gathered influential women to look at how their leadership is shaping the COVID-19 response and efforts to build back better.

“Like no other time in recent history, women are on the frontlines of COVID-19,” said the UN Deputy Secretary-General. “It is time for us to rise as women leaders taking action to conquer the pandemic and come out stronger.”

This summit engaged economic decision makers and built momentum behind key events by providing a compelling evidence base of the monetary benefits of enhanced actions around climate change mitigation. The New Climate Economy (NCE) Report identifies the major opportunities of growth and economic benefits that come from engaging institutions in environmentally-sound business practices. The event began with a formal handover of the Report to UN Secretary General Antonio Guterres, and proceeded with a panel discussion on key findings.

The annual IMPACT2030 Summit aims to unite leaders of private companies in the discussion of advancing the Sustainable Development Goals through focused employee volunteerism.The summit gathered UN senior representatives and the organization’s Founding Partners, Collaborating Partners, and Founding Stakeholders. Drawing on the myriad of perspectives, this event showcased the specific targets needed to deliver measurable and action-oriented solutions.

Junior Chamber International (JCI) is a global network of over 200,000 young members. Through various local, national and international projects and events, JCI members participate in a meaningful exchange.The JCI Global Youth Summit convened on 24 July to 27 July with the goal to explore how young people can leverage cross-sectoral partnerships to achieve the Global Goals for Sustainable Development.
