Walk/Run in Central Park by WHO

Please find attached an invitation to this coming Sunday’s first-ever Walk the Talk: The Health for All Challenge event, being organized by the World Health Organization, the United Nations and the New York City Mayor’s Office. 

The event is taking place on 22 September 2019 with official opening starting at 8.30am, preceded by warm-up activities and entertainment. 

This free walk/run event serves as a healthy kickstart to the 74th United Nations General Assembly and is expected to attract large numbers of participants.

Walk the Talk New York:

WHO and partners will Walk the Talk in New York on Sunday, 22 September 2019, when they stage the first edition of the Health for All Challenge. This walk/run event will be a celebration of health and held on the eve of the 74th session of the United Nations General Assembly and the High-level Meeting on universal health coverage. The event, being held in Central Park, will demonstrate the importance of ensuring all people can access the care they need to lead the healthiest possible lives.

 Key information for participants

  • The event is a free physical activity event for all.
  • The event is scheduled to start at approximately 8 a.m. (timing to be confirmed) and end by 11 a.m. on Sunday 22 September.
  • It is inclusive and open to all ages and abilities, with accessible routes to enable participation of, as many people as possible.
  • Participants should ensure that they are physically healthy and prepared for the various activities being offered during the event that you choose to participate in, ranging from walking or running the three routes, to partaking in the activities being staged at the start/end point. This is your sole responsibility.
  • Participants should take note of weather forecasts.
  • Drinking water will be available from water stations along the route. Healthy snacks will also be available at the start.
  • Routes will be clearly marked, but participants should approach any of the volunteers on the day with questions.
  • Medical services will be available
  • By participating in this public event, you consent to your image being taken (through film, photograph, or other media) and used by WHO for publicity and communications purposes.
