CPI (Cost of Living) increase of 8.6 percent

Under the UNJSPF Pension Adjustment System, as adopted by the UN General Assembly, for monthly pension benefits that are payable on the basis of the US Dollar-Track, there will be a CPI (Cost-Of-Living) increase of 8.6 percent, effective the benefit for April 2022,  payable at the end of April 2022.  (For recent retirees this USA-CPI increase will be pro-rated, based on the commencement date of their UNJSPF pension entitlement.)

This increase is based on the upward movement of the official USA-CPI through end-December 2021, measured as from the date of the last such adjustment of 4.2 percent that had been applied in April 2020 (based on the USA-CPI at end-December 2019). Under the UNJSPF Pension Adjustment System, any CPI increase requires inflation of at least 2 percent as from the date of the last adjustment. For UNJSPF pensions that are payable on the local track for a country other than the USA, any possible CPI increase will depend on the official published CPI data for that respective country of residence.

Sincerely,

John Dietz, President
AFICS/NY
