Key milestone in management reform achieved - staff matching exercise

On 16 October, at a Department of Management town hall meeting, Under-Secretary-General Beagle announced the near completion of the exercise to match department staff with positions in the new Departments for Management, Strategy, Policy and Compliance (DMSPC) and Operational Support (DOS). She assured participants the goal was to ensure a smooth transition and maximize the placement of serving staff, while at the same time minimizing disruption to work.

As we move closer to the 1 January 2019 transition date, managers are beginning to hold meetings with their new teams. Additional briefings and information will continue to be provided to staff. The Office of Human Resources Management is in the process of evaluating the exact needs of the future DMSPC and DOS teams and is ready to provide learning services. In the run-up to 1 January 2019, staff have been asked to reserve 2 to 3 hours a week for learning.

The town hall meeting also provided an opportunity to introduce the new Business Transformation and Accountability Division, which will support newly delegated authority and will lead efforts to enhance results-based management, risk management and monitoring for strengthened accountability and improved performance.
