The Trade Policy Review Mechanism was established as a means to enhance transparency on the trade policies of WTO members. All members are subject to periodic reviews under the mechanism. The four Members with the largest shares of world trade are reviewed every three years, the next 16 are reviewed every five years, and the remaining members every seven years. A longer period may be fixed for LDC members.
After graduation, the periodicity of reviews would be no less than seven years unless the country is among the top 20 trading entities, which is not the case for any of the LDCs.
