The IPCC Scholarship Programme

The IPCC Scholarship Programme was established with the funds received from the 2007 Nobel Peace Prize award to the IPCC. The aim of the IPCC Scholarship Programme is to build capacity in the understanding and management of climate change in developing countries by providing opportunities to young scientists from developing countries to undertake studies that would not be possible without the intervention of the Fund.

Applications by students from LDCs and SIDS researching topics within the fields of study indicated in the ‘call for applications’, are given priority.

Utilization by LDCs:

A total of five students from LDCs were awarded the third scholarship for postgraduate students or research for the period 2015-2017.
A total of eight students from LDCs were awarded the second scholarship for postgraduate students or research for the period 2013-2015.
A total of nine students from LDCs were awarded the first scholarship for postgraduate studies or research for the period 2011-2013.
