On 6 October Department of Economic and Social Affairs (DESA), World Trade Organization (WTO) and International Trade Centre (ITC) concluded the signing of an agreement solidifying the organisations’ collaboration on the maintenance and further development of the ePing system. The system aims at the dissemination of notifications from WTO members related to new product requirements in the area of Technical Barriers to Trade (TBT) and Sanitary & Phytosanitary (SPS). Over the past year the organisations worked together on finalizing the system. ePing will be officially launched on 8 November, during the WTO’s eighth special meeting on procedures for information exchange. After the launch, the partnership will focus on promotion and capacity development activities to ensure that the system reaches its full potential and contributes to effectively lowering trade barriers.
