AAEA Travel Grants for Economists to Attend Annual Meetings

Note: The special AAEA travel grant for LDC economists has been discontinued. Individuals interested in receiving a grant to attend the annual meeting can submit an application for the general International Travel Grant.

The Agricultural and Applied Economics Association (AAEA) Trust support economists from low income or lower-middle income countries with full travel grants to attend the AAEA Annual Meetings. Preference is given to applicants from LDCs. The selected economists receive all expenses paid to attend the annual meeting (including free registration), a one-year membership to AAEA, and an opportunity to present their research at the meeting. The funds for these travel grants are provided by a grant from USDA-ERS.

Utilization by LDCs:

In 2014, among six grant recipients, two economists were from LDCs (Zambia and Malawi). In 2012, among seven grant recipients, four economists were from LDCs (Bangladesh, Ethiopia, Uganda, and Zambia). In 2011, among six grant recipients, three economists were from LDCs (Bangladesh, Ethiopia, and Sierra Leone).
