Regional Report on the Attainment of the SDGs in Countries Affected by Crisis in the Arab

Budget: US$375,000 (UNTFHS: $135,000; Pooled Funding: $240,000)
Implementing Agencies: League of Arab States (LAS), IOM, ESCWA, HSU

The programme will develop a regional yet contextual Report and Reference Guide for achieving the SDGs in countries experiencing or affected by conflicts in the Arab region, namely, Iraq, Libya, Somalia, Sudan, Syria, Yemen, Lebanon and Jordan.

The proposed Report will offer an exhaustive repository of prevailing frameworks by closing gaps and combining existing tools to accelerate delivery and make better use of limited resources. It will prioritize critical SDG targets and indicators that can result in the greatest impact and lead to sustainable gains for people and communities.

The preparation of the Report will be supported by a Core Group (led by LAS and including the HSU, ESCWA and IOM). A Regional Task Force consisting of UN and non-UN partners will also contribute to the work of the Core Group. In addition, National Multi-Stakeholder Partner Networks will be established in coordination with UN Resident Coordinators and will comprise of key national stakeholders, together with civil society actors and those most vulnerable to further support the validation of the Report and to advance the development of future operational programmes.
